Vice President: Bridget hanson CST, CSFA
Hello, my name is Bridget Hanson and I am currently your WI-AST Vice President. Prior to this, I have had both the honor and the privilege of serving this board for two terms (plus one bonus Covid year) as Board of Director. I have been voted to represent the Wisconsin State assembly of AST as well as serving as your voice as a delegate at nationals every single one of those years. I have been a Certified Surgical Technologist since 2005 and in 2017 became a Certified Surgical First Assist. I live in Amery with my husband and two teenage daughters. In my free time if I’m not in a gym cheering loudly at either a basketball game or a volleyball match you can find me working on home projects, reading or let’s face it…on call. I throughly enjoy serving on this board. I love learning and growing and making new connections with like minded individuals like you. I hope to meet you or see you again at our next WI-AST event!

Treasurer: Ilea Cornelius CST, FAST

Hi I’m Ilea Cornelius, CST FAST
I have been a CST for almost 24 years. I currently work in Green Bay as a Cardiac CST. I have been a board member of the WI State Assembly since 2016. Outside of my career, I am a wife and a mother of two high schoolers. We are a hockey family in the winter and love spending time in the north
woods by the lake during the summer.

Secretary: Claire Parda, BHCA, CST
Hello Wisconsin State Assembly, my name is Claire Parda. I have been a CST since 2018 attaining my Associate of Applied Science degree from Waukesha County Technical College. Although I currently do not have a ‘home’ staff hospital, I have worked at over 5 hospitals within the state of Wisconsin alone. I also have a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire (2008).

I currently live in Muskego, WI with my significant other and our teenage daughter. Because I chose to be travel/agency we keep our roots in Muskego but enjoy traveling in our RV/travel trailer either for work or play!

I have been a part of this board since the Fall of 2019 when I was voted in as a Board of Director. Since then, I have served 2 terms as Director, and now sit as your secretary since 2022. We have been working towards moving legislation through the state, building our readership for our newsletter, and becoming more “connected” to our state members.

Other than my passion for my profession, I have a passion to educate others to be the best they can be. I am an avid Girl Scout leader and mentor; and encouraging the values we teach in Girl Scouts in every aspect of my life. I have great intrapersonal skills, love to speak, and enjoy getting feedback from our state members on ways to improve.

In my free time we enjoy traveling, camping, playing hockey, watching our daughter play lacrosse, going to Milwaukee Admirals games, live concerts, and exploring our state of Wisconsin. Our family bucket list includes the National Parks and Forests, “must see” concert venues like Red Rocks (CO), and visiting all 50 states (plus way more).

If there’s one thing I would pass onto my seasoned and new CST’s it’s to live each day. Explore, Create, Do. Whatever that is in your life with your people-do it. I have attending 4 out of 5 National AST Conferences since graduating, and I have to tell you they are amazing. I have had the opportunity to use that time around conference to make a family adventure out of *destination* and spend some extra time exploring. I have also been able to gain so much knowledge not only technically but professionally and within the bylaws and legislation which has helped me behind the mayo and in conversation with the many surgeons, managers, and professionals I come across being an agency employee. I challenge each and every one of you to find your niche within our profession.
